According to a news release from South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on the 6th, Roh Han-gu, the head of the Office for Trade Negotiations who was visiting the US, met with US Trade Representative Katherine Tai (Jamieson Greer) on the 5th (local time). The two sides discussed the US plan to extend the exemption period for "reciprocal tariffs". Roh Han-gu reiterated that South Korea believes tariffs on items such as automobiles, steel, and aluminum should be eliminated or significantly reduced in the final agreement. Both sides agreed that since the establishment of South Korea's new government, the two countries have been conducting goodwill negotiations, and it is necessary to further narrow their differences. The two sides also exchanged views on the plan to extend the exemption period for "reciprocal tariffs", which is set to expire on the 8th of this month.
